Creator View

Creator is where you build a look before it ever reaches the Performance grid. The preview shrinks into a framed window on the left, and a parameter panel opens down the right side. This page covers what’s in that panel.

At the top of the panel sits the current shader’s name, the master dimmer slider (the same value that shows as a DIM% readout in Performance), and a small row of controls:

  • A reset button that restores this visual’s saved defaults, or factory defaults if none are saved.
  • A trash button that clears any saved defaults for this visual.
  • A save-state control shaped like a floppy disk: click it to save the current settings as this shader’s default, or hold it down to save the whole state as a new Performance preset (which lands as a card on the Performance grid).

Below the header, the panel is organized into expandable sections. Tap a section’s header to open or close it.

The entry point to RENDERWAVE’s step sequencer. It has its own play/pause and clear controls, a step-count menu, and an advance mode: either time-based (with a duration slider) or locked to beats or bars. Capture the current state into a step, recall a saved pattern, and save the whole pattern and its timing as a named preset.

The entry point to audio routing for this shader. Until a live audio signal is routed in, this section prompts you to start capture or route audio in. Once it’s live, it opens into the full set of audio controls, covered in detail on the audio panel page.

Every control this shader exposes, each on its own card with a slider (or toggle, for on/off controls) and a value readout. A badge on the section header shows the total count.

Tap a card to expand it and assign audio, or right-click it for MIDI CC learn and OSC options.

Not every control sits in the main list. A smaller set of tone and color-correction controls, the kind you’d set once and rarely touch mid-set, collapses into a nested ADVANCED drawer instead:

  • Any parameter named Contrast, Saturation, Brightness, Gamma, or Black Floor.
  • Any parameter whose name starts with Post.

Everything else, the creative controls that shape a shader’s core look and motion, stays in the main PARAMETERS list, always visible. ADVANCED only appears at all if the shader actually has one of those controls; otherwise there’s nothing to collapse.

A strip of one-tap presets (Clean, Mirror Pulse, Kaleido Wash, Echo Tunnel, Neon Split), followed by individual controls for each performance effect: Transform, Mirror, Kaleidoscope, Feedback, RGB Split, Color FX, and Strobe.
